Presented as a parallel event to Art Collaboration Kyoto 2023, Animism featured COIN PARKING DELIVERY’s collaboration with the Pink Panther within the historic Shobikan building of Heian Jingu Shrine. Supported by Geek Pictures, the exhibition explored Japan’s enduring fascination with divine beasts—creatures imported through ancient texts and reimagined through faith and fantasy. Known for their smartphone-based digital practice, COIN PARKING DELIVERY used the Pink Panther as both symbol and subject, drawing a line between mythology and modern media. Through this reinterpretation, Animism examined how icons shift meaning across time and culture, reflecting Kyoto’s intersection of tradition and contemporary expression.
